The Artspace is located opposite to Woolloomooloo wharf, not far for the Gallery of New South Wales (NSW) and the Botanic Gardens. This residency-based contemporary art centre, housed in the historic Gunnery Building, was set up in 1983 as an alternative exhibition space, in opposition to venues such as the Art Gallery of NSW and commercial galleries, with a focus on working with emerging artists.

The Artspace is one of Australia’s top interdisciplinary spaces. It offers a dynamic program of exhibitions, performances, artist residencies, and public events.
