A weekend in the vineyards

Information

Peppers Convent - 88 Halls Rd, Pokolbin NSW 2320 - Peppers Convent Website

Thistle Hill Guest House -591 Hermitage Rd, Pokolbin NSW 2320 - Thistle Hill Website

Located 2.5h drive north from Sydney, Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s top wine regions. It’s the perfect place to spend a weekend, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, in the midst of beautiful vineyards, sampling great wines.

Don’t try to locate the river in itself. Instead, head to one of these two accommodations, enjoy their beautiful grounds and amenities and/or visit some cellar doors.

Peppers Convent:

Located in Pokolbin, this hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It’s an old Mansion impeccably restored. I had lunch under a canopy in their beautiful garden. The food was fantastic. The property is scattered with sculptures. They have a pool, rent bikes and you can even play tennis. Their restaurant is perfect for dinner. Of course this comes with a price.

For an exclusive stylish stay (or just for great food).

Thistle Hill Guest house:

This accommodation is a winner. The guesthouse and the rooms are tastefully decorated; the property is beautiful, with a great pool. The breakfast is fresh, gorgeous and …included in the price of your stay. The only downside is that they don’t have a restaurant, so you’ll have to find another dinner option, which, depending on the day (and whether you booked in advance), can be tricky.

Bistro Molines

A French touch amidst the vineyards. The perfect place for lunch. The view is stunning and the food excellent, French and Italian inspired. The decor takes you to the South of France: there’s a feel of Provence actually. A hint: the cook is French You need a car to go there.
