Roman mosaics, a World Heritage site

Jordan is famous for its mosaics dating from the Roman times. Most tourists head to Madaba, where you can see the famous Map of Palestine in the St Georges Church. You can do that and eat at the famous Haret Jdoudna.

But most importantly, go a bit further and visit Um Er Rasas. I don’t understand why but nobody goes there! The site is huge! The mosaics are stunning and well-restored and they have not uncovered all of them yet! It’s also a UNESCO World heritage.

You can combine this visit with Mount Nebo, the place where Moses is said to have died after showing the Promised Land to his people. Hopefully you will have a great view: most of the time it’s blurred.
