The only thing Japanese about SoMa is the food (and the manga drawing on the bar)– and it’s fabulous.

Set in the Marais, the restaurant is a bit dark but cosy, with yellow stone walls and cushion-covered benches.

The menu is Japanese bistronomie (a hybrid of bistro cuisine and gastronomy). Think of Japanese/Asian rustic food with a French inspiration like their green tea octopus salad, and brain tempura with mayo.

Chef Sourasack Phongphet is a fixture on the Parisian foodie scene and easily recognizable by his ubiquitous straw hat!

SoMa is the name of a Japanese town but also riffs off the “South Marais” location. Visit and tuck into a tasty meal in a laid-back setting.
