A remarkable building, an extraordinary Klimt mural painting

Information

Friedrichstraße 12 - website

It’s a rather small building. The visit won’t take long although it all depends on the temporary exhibition they have.

This building is really worth the visit if only for one thing: it hosts one of Klimt’s key work: the Beethoven frieze painted in 1902. And for its golden dome on the roof.

For the rest, the building was almost totally destroyed during the second world war by the bombings and the retreating Germans who set it on fire. It was rebuilt in 1963.

It is located not far from the Naschmarkt.
