La Gaité Lyrique defines itself as the home of digital culture, a place for creative expression and innovation in visual art and contemporary music that’s anchored in electronic and computer-based technologies.

Housed within a dilapidated former theatre that dates back to 1862, only part of the original structure remains: the beautiful façade and gracious foyer which has been transformed into a stunning bar (with wifi, of course).

Explore their varied exhibits on cinema, games, and web design (I took in an interesting exhibition curated by Dutch “trend forecaster” Li Edelkoort) but also visit their concert hall, play their video games, check out their gift shop, or just have a drink.

It also functions as an industry incubator, hosting the biggest cultural entrepreneur residency program in France.
